Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) is an internet connection that uses fibre optic cables from the telephone exchange to a roadside cabinet, with standard copper telephone lines delivering broadband from the cabinet to properties in the area.
Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) is a type of broadband connection that delivers internet services directly to a user’s home or premises using fibre optic cables, without the need for an intermediate cabinet. It offers speeds of up to 1,000Mb, making it the fastest type of fibre broadband available.
A 5G router is a plug-in device that enables you to access broadband using a 5G signal rather than the telephone wiring that runs to your premises. With average real-world download speeds of between around 100–200Mbps, 5G broadband is already faster than standard fibre broadband where available.
